I.TUITION / LATE FEES / REFUNDS / DISCOUNTS

Tuition, payable by cash or check (made out to Dolly Stevens) at the first lesson of each month.  Tuition rates are as follows:
$50One hour lesson
$2530-minute lesson

Please bring your check covering monthly tuition to the first week’s lesson in the month.  If you are not present for this lesson, please mail it to:

A $15 late fee will be applied to every monthly payment more than 14 days late.
A $25 charge will apply to each returned check.

NOTE:  No refund will be given in a month where only partial lessons are attended.

Discounts
For more than one family member enrolled in hourly lessons, the 2nd family member (if they each have one-hour lessons) will receive a 15% discount.   

II.ENRICHMENT FEE / CABARET FEE

Enrichment Fee:  $5 a month
This fee will include costs associated with the purchase of new music and/or acting books, copy costs and related materials.

Cabaret Fee: $50 per cabaret (due one month in advance of the cabaret performance)
This fee will cover the accompanist and other costs associated with the Cabaret, including but not limited to advertising, publicity, venue fees and reception.

III.CANCELLATION OF LESSON.

Teacher Cancellation and Illness.
If I cancel a lesson, a make up lesson will be scheduled to occur within 30 days.  Every effort will be made to do this as soon as possible after the cancelled lesson.  If I am unable to reschedule the cancelled lesson, a credit will be issued on the next month’s bill. 

Student Cancellation and Illness.
  • If you are too sick to go to work or school, please do not come to your lesson! 
  • If you find out on the day of the lesson that you must cancel (for any reason), please call the Studio at 540-338-2690 immediately and leave a message.  Follow this up with an email to dolly@thespotlightstudio.com, as written documentation is needed. 
  • If you know prior to the day of your lesson that you must cancel, please send an email to dolly@thespotlightstudio.com and explain the reason for the absence.
  • MAKE-UP LESSONS can only be scheduled during regular studio hours.  Additionally, make up lessons must be scheduled and taken within 30 days of the missed lesson.
  • No-call, no-show:  Will result in no make up lesson and no credit.  More than 2 per month may be grounds for dismissal from the studio.    
  • Please be advised that you are financially responsible for your lesson, even if you can’t make it. 

Winter Weather.
Students will be notified by phone if lessons must be cancelled due to inclement weather.  Spotlight Studio does not follow the school cancellation policy.  If I cancel the lessons they will be rescheduled.  If it is not possible to reschedule a credit for that lesson will be issued.  If the student cancels the lesson due to inclement weather, lesson will be rescheduled.

IV.DROP-OFF

Make Sure I’m Here Before You Drop Off.
Sometimes I may be in another part of the house so do not assume I’m not here if I do not immediately answer the door.  If there is doubt, call the studio.

If I Am Not Here When You Arrive.
Please call my cell phone before assuming the lesson is off.  I may be running an errand, especially if you are the first lesson of the day. 

Tardiness.
Please make every effort to be on time for your lesson.  An hour is very short and I’m interested in maximizing your time as well as my own.  There is no reduction in the fee if you are late.  A recurring pattern of tardiness may be grounds for dismissal from the studio.

V.SCHEDULE CHANGES / HOURS

Teaching Hours.
As of Fall 2007, the studio has the following hours:

Administrative Hours:
Mon-Thu, 9am-12noon.
Studio Hours:
Mondays- Thursdays, 1:00-7:00pm
Saturdays - 9:00am - 4:00pm

  • Specific Make up Lessons (for school-aged students) will be scheduled on Friday afternoons as needed. 
  • The Studio will be closed on Sundays and holidays over the 2007-2008 school year as follows:
Sept. 3Labor Day
Oct.  6-8     Columbus Day weekend
Nov. 3-6      Fall break
Nov. 22-25   Thanksgiving
Dec. 23 - Jan. 1  Christmas holiday
Feb. 16-18  Presidents' Day weekend
Mar. 17-22  Spring break
May 24-26  Memorial Day weekend

*  The studio will be open during Summer 2008.

Changing permanent lesson time.
If your weekly schedule changes such that you need to change your lesson time, please call me during office hours to discuss this matter further. 

Changing Length of Lesson.
Should you wish to move from a 30-minute to a one-hour lesson, or the reverse of that, please discuss this matter with me, as scheduling, in part, will dictate whether or not this will be possible. 

Termination of Lessons.
The Studio may terminate lessons for any reason, including but not limited to non-payment, late payment, returned checks, failure to be prepared for class, failure to keep open line of communication with teacher and failure to participate in cabarets.

Student termination of lessons must be submitted in writing 2 weeks prior to the last lesson.  Sending an email will suffice as writing.  No refund will be issued in a month where there was partial attendance.

VI.COMMUNICATIONS

Teacher-Students Communication Policy
Email is my preferred method of communicating.  I will not take phone calls during lessons, nor will I have time to discuss anything at length with you when your lesson is over.   Another option is to phone me during administrative hours (usually mornings) and if you want to discuss a matter with me in person, we will schedule a time to do so.

Bringing Visitors to Observe.
I am fine with you bringing someone to observe your lesson.  Please notify me in advance of the lesson.  Your guest will be expected sit quietly and all cell phones will have to be quieted.

Cat/Dog.
We have 1 dog (a lab) and 1 cat (a tabby).  They are both friendly and love people.  If you have allergies, please let me know and we will see that the animals are elsewhere at the time of your lesson.

Policy changes.
These policies are subject to change at any time.  One month’s written notice will be given for any policy change and updates will be posted on this website.
